THE SOLIDARITY IS COHORT

The Solidarity Is Cohort is a free, 6-week training program on transformative solidarity principles and practices tailored towards emerging activists and organizers working towards a just and equitable world.

The 2024 Solidarity Is cohort will take place virtually over select Thursdays in September and October. Applications closed on July 19; accepted applicants will be notified by August 12.

WHAT IS THE SOLIDARITY IS COHORT? 

Are you ready to build power, connect with purpose, and make a lasting impact in your communities? Join the Solidarity Is Cohort, a 6-week training program on transformative solidarity principles and practices for emerging activists and organizers working for a just, equitable, and sustainable world. We believe solidarity builds power. We envision a world where everyone practices solidarity to bring about mutual liberation, equity, inclusion, healing, and justice for all people. 

The training is free and includes access to our Solidarity Is curriculum, transformative solidarity resources and practices, skilled mentors, and a community of practice.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Participants will gain the praxis, practice, and tools to:

  • Assess and nurture the organizational conditions for solidarity 

  • Sharpen individual and organizational transformative solidarity practices 

  • Navigate conflict and movement dynamics 

  • Create ecosystems of support and sustainability 

  • Build a community of practice that centers accountability, learning, and trust. 

LED BY A TEAM OF FACILITATORS FROM SOLIDARITY IS AT THE BUILDING MOVEMENT PROJECT, THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES…

  • A 6-week program that includes 6 live virtual sessions, and group practice 

  • A transformative solidarity curriculum filled with tools and practices to take back and integrate into your organizations

  • A community of practice with fellow cohort members

WHEN DOES THE PROGRAM TAKE PLACE?

9am-11am PST / 12pm-2pm EST on the following Thursdays:

APPLICATION PROCESS AND TIMELINE 

  • Application open on June 6

  • Application closes: Friday, July 19 at 11:59 pm EDT

  • Notification decisions: August 12

  • Program takes place: September-October  2024

ACCESS NOTES

  • We will be meeting virtually. To support you in navigating materials, we encourage you to join the training via a computer or laptop if you have access to one. During the training, we will be using the screen share function to share slides and music.

  • Captions: We will be offering Zoom closed captioning during the training.

  • Materials: After the training, we will offer you a recording of the training with a transcript, a padlet of resources, and slides.

  • Breaks: In our 2 hour training each week, we will be taking one 10 minute break.

  • Breakout rooms: This training has multiple breakout room interactions. Participants can opt in or out of having conversations with other participants.

  • Chat and Audio: This training includes use of the chat function in Zoom. Participants will be asked to enter responses in the chat throughout the training. Participants will also be invited to share some of their responses audibly. You can always accept or decline this invitation.

  • Tech and access support: A tech and access support person will be present throughout the training to attend to any emergent participant needs regarding Zoom, the slide deck, and access.
